Kela Walton recently relocated to the Carolinas from Buffalo, New York, where she served as the interim principal harpist of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra for the 2017-2018 season, including the orchestras international tour to Poland. Ms. Walton is a registered Suzuki instructor and founder of the harp department at Buffalo Suzuki Strings. She has authored articles for The American Harp Journal and Harp Column magazine. For the American Harp Society, Ms. Walton is completing her second term as a Director-at-Large and has reviewed over 200 proposals for the AHS grants committee, which she co-chairs with Karen Lindquist Spever. Ms. Walton holds the Master of Music degree in harp performance from the Moores School of Music at the University of Houston studying with Paula Page and the Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Texas at Austin studying with Gayle Barrington.
