Argentinian harpist, Maria Luisa Rayan has performed to critical acclaim throughout Asia, Australia, Europe, Latin America, and the USA. She is the Silver Medal recipient from the USA International Harp Competition in both 1998 and 2001; is the founder and artistic director of the Hong Kong Harpy Summer Academy; co-director with Jung Kwak of the Korea International Harp Competition and Festival; and co-director with Marcela Mendez of the Escuela de Verano de Arpa in Argentina. Ms. Ryan has recorded two CD’s Latin Fire and From Bach to Piazzolla and has published multiple arrangements of J.S. Bach and the music of Astor Piazzolla. Her harp studies began in her native Argentina and culminated to the United States where she studied harp with Susann McDonald at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music.
